Kolkata: Opposition parties have flagged concerns about the way booths have been distributed among new wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC).Both CPM and Congress have raised objections and demanded a review.Congress functionary Ashutosh Chatterjee, who attended a hearing on Wednesday in respect of draft rolls for KMC polls published last week, said the map that was being shown to them now was different from the map shown when hearings for revision of ward boundaries were conducted in KMC.“It has been found that during the delimitation process, we were called by the concerned hearing officers of KMC as per our objections, wherein wrong maps were, strangely, used for the hearing process. We want to know why such wrong maps were used to conduct such important hearings in relation to the delimitation exercise which result in fabrication,” Chatterjee wrote in a letter to Bengal’s CEO, state election commissioner (SEC) and KMC commissioner. “Such undemocratic means clearly depict that there was an intention behind such exercise for which we strongly object,” the letter said.A CPM functionary said nearly 100 booths need changes. “The booth distribution in the list handed over to us last week does not always match with the maps. The booth distribution is filled with errors. A voter from Tollygunge Phanri must go to Jodhpur Park to cast his vote. We have found about 100, out of 4,722 booths, that need changes,” said Subrata Dutta, CPM’s Kolkata district secretariat member.Poll officials said the 4,722 booths were distributed across 1,835 polling stations in the KMC area. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Kolkata | Silver Rate in Kolkata | Bank Holidays in Kolkata | Public Holidays in Kolkata | Kolkata AQI | Weather in Kolkata | Petrol Price in Kolkata | Diesel Price in Kolkata | CNG Price in Kolkata | LPG Price in KolkataStay updated with the latest Kolkata news.
