Zara Larsson bashes White House over ‘Midnight Sun’ ICE video: ‘You guys are such f—ing losers’

Swedish pop star Zara Larsson ripped the White House on Thursday after it used her song “Midnight Sun” in a video on social media accompanied by footage of immigration arrests and deportations.

The video, posted to the White House’s TikTok account, shows Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detaining and handcuffing people as Larsson’s song plays in the background.

The post was captioned “Never ending deportations” — a play on a lyric from the song.

Larsson responded in a video on her own TikTok account, calling the White House post “dehumanizing” and criticizing how the people shown in the footage were portrayed.

“I’m just sad. My heart is heavy seeing that,” Larsson said. “I wish I could help you remember that you and I, we aren’t that different. And we’re not that different from the people in the video, either.”

Larsson, who was born in Sweden, said she considers herself lucky to have had access to education and other opportunities, and argued that many immigrants are seeking better lives for themselves and their families.

“These people in the video are real people,” she said, pointing to one person shown wearing construction gear. “These people who are undocumented are regular people with jobs, and they’re just trying to have a better future.”

Larsson also took issue with the White House pairing the footage with “Midnight Sun,” because she said the song is meant to be about feeling connected to nature, the universe and other people.

“This just creates this massive divide between people,” she said, before ending the video by calling those behind the post “f—ing losers.”

Earlier this year, the White House used her 2015 hit song “Lush Life” in a video featuring President Trump and messages supporting ICE and law enforcement.

Larsson responded at the time with a profanity-laced Instagram post where she said, “I f—ing hate ICE.”

The Trump administration has used a variety of popular songs to accompany their immigration-related social media posts, which drew objections from several of the songs’ artists.

Singer Ariana Grande blasted the White House after her song “Bye” was used in a video depicting ICE arrests and deportations. Grande asked the administration not to use her music in connection with what she described as “barbaric, inhumane, heinous nonsense.”
