Homan after Milo Yiannopoulos deportation: ‘Get them out quick’

White House border czar Tom Homan on Sunday said federal immigration enforcement authorities “get them out quick” after officials detained and swiftly deported far-right provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos last week.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) previously stated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained the British national after he overstayed his visa. He was issued a final order of removal by an immigration judge on July 22 after failing to appear at an immigration hearing.

“Once a judge orders them out, rather than being in detention, waiting for travel documents and flight arrangements, we –– ICE, along with the [Customs and Border Protection] and Department of Homeland Security, working really good on the efficiencies of the removal process,” Homan told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” when asked if this process is standard.

“Get them out quick, open those beds up for more detainees to be held,” Homan added.

Homan said that because Yiannopoulos did not appear in immigration court, the judge ordered his deportation.

“So, once ICE gets an order of deportation from a federal judge, their job is to execute that order, and that’s what they did,” he said. “He had his due process, ordered removed by a federal judge, and ICE removed him. It’s that simple.”

Bash asked if right-wing influencer Laura Loomer tipped ICE off about Yiannopoulos’s status, to which Homan said “a lot of people tipped ICE off” and that Loomer “probably was.”

Bash then asked about DHS’s publicizing of Yiannopoulos’s arrest, release of a mugshot and saying in a statement that Yiannopoulos “chose to “overstay his welcome” and if this was all an attempt by the Trump administration to “make an example out of him to send a message?”

Homan reiterated “our goal” to “remove them as quick as possible, regardless of who they are,” and that the information released about the detaining was in response to “press inquiries.”

“We don’t deport people based on political affiliation,” Homan replied.

ICE apprehended Yiannopoulos Thursday night at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Kenner, La., ahead of a scheduled concert for Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, in New Orleans on Friday night, according to TMZ , which first reported his arrest.

Yiannopoulos previously worked on Ye’s 2024 presidential campaign and was an intern for former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-La.). The commentator was a vocal supporter of President Trump in 2016, praising his deportation agenda and immigration policies. He has also been criticized for past public remarks he has made about feminism and Islam.

He wrote for the conservative website Breitbart News before his resignation in 2017 after a video surfaced of him advocating for adult men and “younger boys” having sexual relationships. Yiannopoulos later apologized for the comments.

Yiannopoulos made several media appearances early in Trump’s first term, once appearing on “Real Time with Bill Maher” on HBO. The two appeared cordial, with Maher calling Yiannopoulos “a young, gay, alive Christopher Hitchens,” referring to the late Washington journalist and contrarian author.
