These are the most-searched slang words of 2026. How many do you know?

(NEXSTAR) – Unless you’re incredibly online – or incredibly in tune with Gen Z and Gen Alpha – it’s easy to fall behind on the latest slang.

Describing yourself as “demure” or randomly interjecting with “skibidi” are so last year .

Word Unscrambler combed through Google search trends, analyzing which slang terms were looked up the most between January and August of 2026.

They found the top-searched word, which inspired more than 1.6 million queries, isn’t really a word at all. It’s actually a sequence of numbers.

OK, that one is pretty easy, but do you know the rest of the top 10?

The most searched slang words of 2026, according to World Scrambler, are:

6-7 : This one isn’t new to 2026, but it has had a long shelf life since kids started using it last year. 6-7, usually said with a hand gesture that imitates weighing two options (like the picture above), is a word that doesn’t really mean anything . These types of nonsense words are popular with Gen Alpha.

Chud : This is another one that isn’t new to the scene but is suddnely popular with Gen Alpha. It comes from the 1984 movie “C.H.U.D.,” which stands for cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers, explains content creator Mr. Lindsay . Now, kids use it as another way to say “loser.”

Rizz : Short for “charisma,” having rizz means you’re charming, smooth, have good style or are otherwise attractive.

Gooning : The origins and some meanings of this one are X-rated, so use at your own risk, but its PG meaning is when someone gets lost or completely absorbed in an activity.

Cap, no cap : If something is “cap,” it’s a lie, or at least a big exaggeration. “No cap” means truthfully, honestly.

Mogging, mogged, mog, framemog, etc. : According to Merriam-Webster, to “mog” someone is outshine or outperform them. From that root slang word come the other variations, like “framemog” which means to make someone else look smaller by standing next to them with a larger, more muscular build.

Bop : Bet you thought you had this one, but double check yourself here. “Bop” used to be more commonly used to refer to a catchy song, but is now a “offensive, hurtful, and often misogynistic” piece of slang, according to Merriam-Webster , meaning a woman who has had many sexual partners.

Larping, larper : These terms derive from the acronym LARP, which is a live-action role-playing game. Larping can still mean you play one of those dress-up fantasy games, but it also can be used more broadly to describe pretending to be someone you’re not.

Aura, aura points, aura farming : Someone with aura is cool, stylish and has swagger. You earn “aura points” by more or less being cool. Aura farming is when you’re actively trying to look cool and earn those imaginary points.

Sigma : The 18th letter of the Greek alphabet, sigma in modern usage describes someone who is “coolly self-assured, independent, and driven,” according to Merriam-Webster. As opposed to an alpha male who has a pack, a sigma is more of a lone wolf.
