President Trump is taking his red state campaign blitz to Ohio Saturday evening after making stops in Texas, Oklahoma and Alabama over the past few days.
Trump is slated to speak at 7 p.m. in Vandalia, a city within a congressional district where a Republican is holding a decisive lead in his House reelection bid. As of Oct. 2, Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ) gave Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) a 93 percent chance of winning the race against his Democratic opponent, Kristina Knickerbocker.
Unlike Turner, GOP candidates in Ohio’s Senate and gubernatorial races are vulnerable. DDHQ placed incumbent Sen. Jon Husted (R) two percentage points behind his challenger, former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D). While former DOGE co-leader Vivek Ramaswamy (R) trailed Democrat Amy Acton by around seven points in the race to become Ohio’s governor.
The president told attendees at his Friday night Alabama rally that he’s focusing his rallying efforts on historically red states as a “sign of respect” ahead of November’s midterms. After a break on Sunday, Trump plans to make another campaign stop in Nebraska while Vice President Vance travels to Alaska.
Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is set to visit the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where he will also attend the Air Force-Navy college football game at 12 p.m. EDT.
