Musk’s America PAC spends about $800K in key midterm races

Tech mogul Elon Musk’s super PAC has spent around $800,000 in top House and Senate races this cycle, according to the latest filings .

America PAC spent the most in Texas, doling out roughly $248,000 as Republican state Attorney General Ken Paxton fights for the Senate in a toss-up contest against Democrat James Talarico.

The group spent around $170,000 in Maine, boosting incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R) against Democrat Troy Jackson — and $106,000 in Ohio, where incumbent Sen. Jon Husted (R) faces former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D).

The Republican Senate hopefuls in New Hampshire, Iowa, Michigan and Alaska also got a surge of funds.

The PAC put several thousand into eight high-stakes House races, supporting Republican Reps. Jen Kiggans (Va.), Tom Kean Jr. (N.J.), Mike Lawler (N.Y.), Ryan Mackenzie (Pa.), Scott Perry (Pa.), Rob Bresnahan (Pa.) and Derrick Van Orden (Wis.), along with Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer (R), who’s running for the House in Florida’s 25th District. They’re all in races that Cook Political Report considers toss-ups.

The new independent expenditures, which account just for the month of August, come after Musk reportedly met last week with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) in Texas, where the party will be holding its first midterm convention next week to rally the base.

Musk — the world’s richest man with a staggering $916 billion net worth , according to Forbes — helped pour more than $250 million into President Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, but he said last year that he was planning to scale back his spending , which raised concerns among Republicans heading into a tough election year.

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO had helmed the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency as Trump started his second term, implementing massive cuts and sweeping changes to the federal government. But his close relationship with Trump devolved in a public clash last year.

Tensions have since seemed to soothe , and Musk is jumping back into the political arena ahead of the 2026 midterms, with plans for his PAC to spend as much as $120 million on boosting conservative voter turnout.
