President Trump is set to announce plans Monday afternoon for a $15 billion steel plant in Iowa , according to White House officials.
The Trump administration in a statement to NewsNation said it will be the largest in U.S. history.
Mesabi Metallics is expected to build the plant, which will eventually produce up to 10 million tons of steel annually using iron ore from the company’s new mine in Minnesota. The White House said the project will create at least 1,750 permanent jobs, with steel production expected to begin in 2030.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, along with industry experts, will join the president in the Oval Office.
The event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. EDT.
