President Trump threatened Thursday that Iran will cease to exist if its leaders do not sign a peace deal with the U.S.

“Now I have to make a decision. They’ll either sign a very fair deal, or they won’t exist any longer,” Trump told reporters on the South Lawn en route to Oklahoma.

The president also told reporters that Iran could have been connected to a copilot’s alleged attempt to crash an Israel-bound airplane traveling from Dubai earlier this week.

“I would say the answer based on what I’m hearing is yes, but we’re working on it right now,” the president said.

Trump said Wednesday that he spoke “at length” with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about the incident.

The president’s comments come after he told Time Magazine that he rejected Iran’s latest peace offer.

“It’s just not good enough, nearly,” Trump told the publication, saying he rejected the proposal in part because it only opened “some aspects” of the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump also told Time Magazine that he would not accept any proposals from Tehran that he would not have approved a year ago and said it was possible he could resume the bombing of Iran following November’s midterm elections.
