President Trump is seeking to blame Tuesday’s disastrous midterm election results for Republicans on Fox News, which he attacked repeatedly on social media before calling into the network on election night.

“Why does FoxNews have Bill de Blasio, the Worst Mayor in the History of New York City, on air, ranting and raving like a Lunatic,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform after de Blasio appeared on the network to analyze Tuesday’s election results. “He left the City in disgrace, and the damage he caused was incalculable — It has never been the same, and now he’s telling us how to run America. FoxNews bears responsibility for these losses by constantly and consistently putting on the Dumocrat opposition, and worse.”

Trump later called into Fox and insisted that if he were on the ballot , Republicans would not have suffered the sweeping losses they were handed in states including Texas, Ohio and Maine.

Democrats notched resounding victories on Tuesday, winning control of the House and Senate and setting up a clash with Trump during the final two years of his presidency.

Trump’s attacks on Fox were consistent on election night, with the president calling out pundits by name and knocking polling put forth by the network before votes were counted.

The president has had a complicated relationship with the Rupert Murdoch-owned cable channel for years, hiring a slew of former hosts at the network to serve in his administration and blasting Fox’s editorial decisionmaking.
