Live updates: Trump, Obama campaign in midterm sprint; Murkowski backs Dem in Alaska governor’s race

Former President Obama is stopping in Atlanta on Wednesday — less than a week out from Election Day — to give a boost to Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms, who’s running for Georgia governor, and incumbent Sen. Jon Ossoff (D).

Obama’s visit to the Peach State comes just a few days after his quippy speech at a Cleveland rally for Ohio midterm candidates, during which his comment that the Trump administration’s White House renovations looked like “Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory” made headlines and sparked backlash from President Trump’s allies. Trump has also fired back at the remark.

On Wednesday evening, the president will make his third campaign stop in Ohio in the past month, again pushing GOP Sen. Jon Husted’s reelection bid and Vivek Ramaswamy’s (R) gubernatorial campaign. He is set to speak at 7 p.m. EDT in Chillicothe.

While Trump and Obama backed candidates in their own parties, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) crossed the aisle on Tuesday to endorse the Democrat running for Alaska’s governor: Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins.

The Federal Reserve Open Market Committee will announce its decision on interest rates at 2 p.m., and Fed Chair Kevin Warsh will address it at 2:30 p.m.
