President Trump said he was forced to turn off Fox News Tuesday as he was watching the channel for election night updates because of a segment on “The Five” featuring liberal pundit Jessica Tarlov.
“I can’t stand Jessica Tarlov’s voice — DUMB AS A ROCK, but it’s the voice that gets me,” the president wrote on Truth Social. “Have to go somewhere else until that LOSER is off the air — I’ll be back later!”
Tarlov had moments earlier argued with comedian and commentator Greg Gutfeld over which issues matter most to voters ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections, with the Fox News host insisting high gas prices and the cost of living were top of mind for Americans.
In response, Gutfeld, a staunch Trump supporter, argued voters would not support Democrats because they, as he said, support sex changes for children.
Tarlov is a regular progressive voice on “The Five,” one of Fox’s most watched debate programs, and frequently appears on the channel’s airwaves.
She frequently spars with hosts like Gutfeld and Jesse Watters and has drawn the ire of the president before.
Trump has had an on – again , off – again relationship with Fox for years, often sitting for interviews on the cable channel and hiring a number of its top hosts to serve in his cabinet.
The president and his allies have also attacked the network over its polling and news coverage during his second term, arguing the Rupert Murdoch-owned cable channel is not supportive enough of him and his agenda.
Watters, another top Fox host, telegraphed some pessimism for Republicans ahead of Tuesday’s midterms.
“I feel like I’m about to play a game that I know I’m going to lose,” Watters said just minutes before the spat between Tarlov and Gutfeld broke out. “I’m just trying not to get hurt. And getting hurt would mean you lose the Senate. And right now the Senate is very much in play, and it’s making me angry.”
