President Trump is making an unusual campaign stop in Alaska Tuesday, where a once-reliably-Republican Senate seat is now firmly in play just three weeks before the midterms.

The president will rally alongside incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), who is facing a tough challenge from former Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola. Recent polling showed Peltola with a narrow lead , raising concerns for the GOP in a state that hasn’t elected a Democrat to the upper chamber in nearly two decades.

The visit comes just over a week after Vice President Vance campaigned for Sullivan in Fairbanks, underscoring the attention the race is getting from the White House.

Trump’s trip also comes amid frustration over high energy costs and his controversial diesel deal with Russia, which has drawn criticism from the other Alaska senator, Lisa Murkowski (R). His most recent visit to the Last Frontier State was in August 2025 during a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The event in Wasilla, Alaska, is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
