Trump’s MAGA Inc. super-PAC funnels $10 million into Ken Paxton’s Senate campaign

President Trump’s super-PAC MAGA Inc. gave $10 million to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s (R) Senate campaign ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, according to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings published Saturday.

The $10 million payment , given to political media company, Del Ray Media, funded two attack ads against his Democratic opponent James Talarico — who is running a surprisingly competitive race in the historically red Lone Star State.

A MAGA Inc. spokesperson, Alex Pfeiffer, told The Hill the MAGA Inc.-funded ads focus on how “High Tax Talarico” is planning to “take money out of Texans’ pockets.”

“MAGA Inc. is going to ensure Texas knows about Talarico’s radical policies and elects Ken Paxton to the U.S. Senate,” Pfeiffer said in her Saturday statement.

Talarico has made promises to put a higher tax on billionaires while cutting taxes for working families and small businesses, while Paxton has advocated for tax breaks and tackling the ongoing affordability crisis.

The Lone Star Liberty PAC is slated to run similar attack ads against Talarico in September for being sympathetic to China, as the current state representative voted against legislation last year establishing criminal penalties for foreign entities purchasing Texas land.

The spending comes after Republican strategist Karl Rove said Wednesday that the “time is running out” for Paxton, who some polls have placed behind his opponent.

“Of the president wants to have Paxton win, he needs to be tossing a lot of money Paxton’s way so that ads can be run that depict Talarico as the far-left winger that he is,” Rove said.

Trump said yesterday the PAC has $1 billion at its disposal amid Republicans’ calls for him to invest further in midterm candidates, though reports from June estimated its finances at around $400 million . He added that MAGA Inc. plans to spend between $400 and $500 million for November’s midterms, saving the rest for the 2028 election cycle.

Paxton pulled ahead in the Republican primary when he earned the president’s endorsement , though he has struggled to build a sustainable lead over his opponent since the primaries

Despite Trump winning the Lone Star state by around 14 points in the 2024 presidential election, Paxton trailed Talarico by 6-points in an August poll from Texas Public Opinion Research .

The Republican has also faced several notable scandals, including the Texas state House voting to impeach him on corruption charges — of which the state senate later acquitted him.

Democrats are increasingly hopeful they can flip Texas’ seat, which Republicans have held for the last three decades. The nonpartisan Cook Political Report also shifted the Texas Senate race to a toss-up — citing Paxton’s high disapproval ratings and “notably underperforming even a generic Republican in GOP polling.”
