Former Rep. George Santos (R-Fla.) pitched himself on Friday to fill the vacancy left by White House press secretary Katie Zacharia.

“Hey I’m not technically open for a job because I have one already…. butttttttt… I’d jump to serve POTUS as press secretary in a heart beat. Just saying,” the former Republican lawmaker wrote on the social platform X .

A White House official announced Friday afternoon that Zacharia was “transitioning out” of her role after President Trump told reporters he advised the press secretary to “reconsider” her position.

Zacharia’s five days on the job set a new record for the shortest-serving White House press secretary.

She faced scrutiny over a shaky initial press conference , where she appeared visibly nervous, took only three reporter questions and presented herself as a lawyer on TV despite not passing the bar exam.

Santos slammed Fox News host Sean Hannity after the anchor grilled Zacharia about her legal background during a Thursday interview.

“F— you @seanhannity ! You think you are untouchable and like to sit high on your horse and judged people,” he wrote on social media .

The former lawmaker doubled down on his criticism of the Fox News host in a lengthy post on Friday evening, asking people who watched Hannity’s show to “unfollow” his X account.

“I refuse to associate with people who think that the self-righteous pig known as Sean Hannity is the standard or barometer for anything in society,” Santos wrote.

This is not the first time Santos has clashed with the Fox News host. Following his release from federal prison last fall, Hannity pressed the ex-congressman about whether he would repay the hundreds of thousands of dollars he stole to victims. Santos apologized but did not promise to pay back the amount.

Santos was expelled from Congress in 2023 and convicted on multiple counts of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft. President Trump commuted his sentence last October after the ex-congressman had served three months in prison.

Since his departure from Congress, the Republican has continued to stir controversy. In August, he was issued a lifetime ban from the prediction market Kalshi after he failed to cooperate in an investigation into wagers he placed on the platform on this year’s State of the Union address.
