Watch live: Jeffries speaks after 2 Democrats buck party on GOP rule vote

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) will speak Thursday morning after two Democrats broke with the party to help Republicans advance a series of GOP-backed measures.

This rare defection now puts Jeffries between a rock and a hard place ; he is already navigating the split between the establishment and more progressive Democrats ahead of the midterms as the party looks to seize control of the House.

Reps. Jared Golden (D-Maine) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Wash.) joined Republicans in supporting a procedural rule Tuesday. Their votes have prompted party leaders to consider changes to caucus rules and other potential consequences.
