DeSantis gifts Trump gold coin with engraved image of him ‘flipping the bird’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) greeted President Trump as he arrived in Florida on Friday afternoon with a gift: a gold coin with an image of Trump holding up a middle finger.

The coin bears Trump’s face and the inscription, “YOU MISSED B—–S.” Trump showed reporters the gift after receiving it.

It is not clear what the inscription refers to, but Trump has survived multiple assassination attempts, the most notable of which was an extremely close call at a rally in Butler, Pa., during the 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump arrived in Florida for a rally in Fort Myers on Friday afternoon.

The president endorsed DeSantis when he launched his bid for Florida governor in the 2018 election, but the two have had a rocky relationship at times.

DeSantis challenged Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, a move that earned him the nickname “Ron DeSanctimonious” from Trump. DeSantis lost handily in the first contest and endorsed Trump.

While the two have repaired their relationship, DeSantis has publicly disagreed with Trump on key issues, including AI regulation . In the GOP primary for this year’s Florida gubernatorial election, Trump quickly endorsed Rep. Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) to succeed DeSantis.

A Republican operative in the Sunshine State told The Hill at the time that DeSantis and his wife, Casey DeSantis, had been exploring the possibility of a gubernatorial run for the Florida first lady.
