President Trump on Monday morning pushed back on growing anxiety over artificial intelligence, arguing the U.S. does not need further regulation around AI.

“The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!” he posted on Truth Social. He also laid into Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, who over the weekend called for a slower pace to AI development.

Startling warnings last week on artificial intelligence (AI) have lawmakers pushing for action . Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called on the Trump administration to brief the Senate on its AI framework for testing the latest models.

Lawmakers return Monday to Washington, and the House has only one week in session before its midterm election recess.

The Senate is set to continue talks on a budget resolution that could lead to a third reconciliation bill. The House will consider a Russia sanctions bill that has passed the Senate.
