Hyderabad: After backing an alliance against the CPI-affiliated union in the recently held TGSRTC recognised union elections, Congress has now turned to the Left parties, seeking their support in the upcoming elections to the two graduates’ MLC constituencies.Congress has fielded Sama Rammohan Reddy from the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad graduates’ constituency and Ramreddy Sarvotham Reddy from the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal graduates’ constituency.Telangana Congress president B Mahesh Kumar Goud said the party is seeking the support of the CPI and CPM as both are partners in the INDIA bloc at the national level.“The CPI is also our alliance partner at the state level. We have also sought the support of Telangana Jana Samithi for the Congress candidates in the two MLC seats. We will seek the support of all like-minded parties and organisations,” he said. However, the Left parties have not yet made up their minds. CPM state secretary John Wesley said the party is also considering fielding a candidate from the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal constituency.“There is a proposal to field a candidate supported by the CPM, CPI and eight other Left parties in the state. In the last election, a Left-backed candidate was fielded from the Nalgonda-Khammam-Warangal seat. Now the Congress has sought support. We will discuss the proposal with all Left parties and take a decision soon,” he said.Congress leadership is expected to meet CPI state secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao and other party leaders shortly to formally seek support. Kunamneni said the CPI would take a call after Congress presents its proposal. The lack of a clear commitment from the Left parties, coupled with the possibility of a joint CPI-CPM candidate entering the fray, could complicate Congress’s electoral strategy in the MLC elections, political observers said. The developments come at a time when the ruling party is looking to consolidate support after facing a setback in the recent TGSRTC union elections, making the Left parties’ stand crucial to its prospects in the graduate constituencies. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Hyderabad | Silver Rate in Hyderabad | Bank Holidays in Hyderabad | Public Holidays in Hyderabad | Hyderabad AQI | Weather in Hyderabad | Petrol Price in Hyderabad | Diesel Price in Hyderabad | CNG Price in Hyderabad | LPG Price in HyderabadStay updated with the latest Hyderabad news.
