Federal agents are investigating reports of an incendiary device being thrown at Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) downtown Atlanta office Tuesday night.

“FBI personnel and evidence response technicians are on site collecting evidence,” the FBI said in a statement obtained by NewsNation, The Hill’s broadcasting partner.

“There is no known threat to public safety at this time,” the FBI continued.

According to Atlanta news station WSB-TV, the FBI and Department of Homeland Security investigators were called to 180 Ted Turner Drive around 9:30 p.m. after city police initially responded to reports surrounding the device.

The station reported law enforcement collected evidence from a sidewalk near the building. It included a plastic lighter and a shopping bag, along with what appeared to be two bottles of lighter fluid.

ICE has faced mounting scrutiny over highly publicized use-of-force incidents. On Monday, a California lawmaker said immigrant officers broke an American citizen’s arm over the weekend. And earlier this month in New York City, an ICE officer shot and wounded a man who DHS argued had a previous grand larceny conviction and a number of prior arrests.
