YAMUNANAGAR: A 26-year-old woman died during treatment after she was allegedly attacked with a knife by a neighbour in Patri Mohalla of Jagadhri on Wednesday evening.The deceased, Priya, wife of Amandeep Singh, was allegedly attacked at around 5.45pm on Wednesday, while she was walking in the locality with her four-year-old son.The Yamunanagar police have registered a case of murder against the woman’s neighbour at Jagadhri City police station on Wednesday night.The FIR names Sajan, a resident of Patri Mohalla, as the accused.According to the statement of Priya's husband Amandeep Singh, Sajan allegedly approached her carrying a knife. Fearing him, Priya entered a neighbour's house with her son.The accused allegedly followed her inside and repeatedly stabbed her on the head, neck, arm, abdomen and waist.The child was reportedly present with her during the assault.Priya was rushed to the Civil Hospital, Yamunanagar, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.Police were informed and reached the spot, where blood was found at the scene.A crime-scene team was called in and the area was secured for investigation.The complainant told police that Sajan had allegedly been involved in earlier disputes with the family.He said Sajan had previously faced a case for allegedly molesting Priya, following which a compromise was reached between the families.He further alleged that Sajan subsequently attacked him, leading to another case, and that about five months ago Sajan again allegedly attacked him with a rod.The FIR states that Sajan had obtained bail in the earlier cases, including relief from the Punjab and Haryana high court.The Jagadhri City police registered a case under Sections 103(1) (murder) and 333 (house trespass) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and initiated an investigation.Police have initiated further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the killing and the accused named in the FIR.Jagadhri City SHO inspector Virender Singh said, “Accused Sajan is absconding and efforts are being made to arrest him.
