Mother, newborn die after delivery at UP hospital 'sealed' a year ago, run via backdoor

MAU: A woman and her newborn died after she allegedly received treatment at a private hospital in Mau that had been sealed by the administration and health department last year, officials said.The hospital, Indrajeet Hospital in Ratanpura, was allegedly operating through an alternate entrance despite the main entrance being locked. The health department has now sealed the facility again after the matter came to light.Ajit Rajbhar, a resident of Targouli village in Ballia district, lodged a complaint with the chief medical officer alleging that his pregnant wife, Sarita, was admitted to the hospital on September 8 after an ASHA worker advised the family to take her there.According to the complaint, doctor Himanshu Yadav told the family that Sarita's condition was serious and advised an operation. After the delivery, the newborn died and Sarita continued to bleed, the complaint alleged.Rajbhar alleged that hospital staff refused to continue treating his wife, following which he took her to another private hospital in Mau.
