Nashik: Collector Ayush Prasad on Tuesday ordered an audit into the death of cobbler Vishnu Anand Kakvipure (40), who died after alleged delays and lapses in treatment at Nashik Civil Hospital on Saturday. The order followed social activist Deepak Doke’s accusation of negligence on the part of hospital authorities.Prasad has demanded a detailed report, including Kakvipure’s medical history, treatment records, emergency ward case papers, and an explanation for why he was allegedly referred to a private diagnostic centre for a sonography.According to Doke, Kakvipure developed breathing difficulties on Saturday and was initially taken to Regional Referral Hospital by his wife. Since the facility primarily catered to kidney, cancer and cardiac patients, he was stabilised and referred to Civil Hospital, he said.Doke alleged that after reaching Civil Hospital, doctors directed the family to get a sonography conducted at a private diagnostic centre despite the patient’s deteriorating condition. “The patient’s wife requested that all possible treatment be provided within the hospital itself. She was, however, allegedly told to get the sonography done outside,” Doke told TOI.As the woman arranged transport and took her husband to the diagnostic centre, Kakvipure allegedly collapsed outside the facility. He was rushed back to Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.Following the incident, Doke staged a sit-in protest outside Civil Hospital and submitted a memorandum to the district collector, demanding an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death.Civil surgeon Satish Shimpi said, “The sonography machine was functional. The patient was examined by a resident doctor from the postgraduate medical college who referred him to the diagnostic centre. Had the chief medical officer been present, the patient would have been admitted.”He said both the medical college and hospital administration had been directed to conduct separate inquiries and submit reports to the district collector. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Nashik | Silver Rate in Nashik | Bank Holidays in Nashik | Public Holidays in Nashik | Petrol Price in Nashik | Diesel Price in Nashik | CNG Price in Nashik | LPG Price in NashikStay updated with the latest Nashik news.
