Man stabbed to death, another injured after dispute over harassing women in Jalgaon, accused held

Nashik: A 34-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday morning for allegedly stabbing a man and grievously injuring another during an altercation over harassment of women at Maulinagar in Jalgaon’s Khedi village around 8.30pm on Tuesday.MIDC police identified the deceased as Kiran Patil (44) of Maulinagar. The injured, garage owner Kishor Patil (42), suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.According to police, the crime occurred when Kishor heard a commotion outside his house and found the accused, Mayur Jadhav from the same locality, arguing with several residents, including women. “Residents alleged that Jadhav had been harassing women in the area by repeatedly directing his motorcycle headlight towards their faces. Jadhav was enraged when Kiran and Kishor intervened and asked him to stop and leave,” an officer said.The officer said Jadhav then allegedly pulled out a chopper concealed in his trousers and stabbed Kiran in the chest. “He twisted the weapon before pulling it out and then attacked Kishor, stabbing him in the chest as well,” the officer said.Both men collapsed, triggering panic in the neighbourhood. Jadhav fled the scene immediately after the attack.The residents then rushed the injured men to Civil Hospital in Jalgaon. “While receiving treatment, Kishor was informed that Kiran had succumbed to his injuries,” police said.Based on Kishor’s complaint, MIDC police registered a case against Jadhav under sections 103 (1) [punishment for murder], 109 (1) [attempt to murder], 351 (2) [criminal intimidation — general punishment] and 352 [intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace] of BNS.Inspector Baban Avhad said, “We launched a manhunt soon after the crime.
