Don’t miss a beat event held to promote cardiovascular health

Madurai: Department of Cardiology at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) organised a programme on Tuesday to commemorate World Heart Day 2026 under the theme “Don’t Miss a Beat”. The event aimed to promote cardiovascular health awareness, preventative care, and routine exercise. During the session, medical experts showcased the department’s remarkable milestone as a leading cardiology performer statewide.Discussing the history and growth of the facility, assistant professor Dr R Ramesh stated, “Between the years 2009-2026, a total of 40,907 medical procedures including angioplasty were completed at the cardiology department. These procedures include several balloon valvuloplasty surgeries, which is rare procedure in government medical college hospitals in Tamil Nadu.”Chief guest and actor-filmmaker M Sasikumar urged the public to take direct responsibility for their personal well-being by establishing active daily routines.
