Ajit Mohan steps down as Snap chief business officer

BENGALURU: Ajit Mohan has stepped down as chief business officer of Snapchat parent Snap after nearly four years at the company, citing personal reasons and a desire to spend more time with his family in Singapore.Ronan Harris, who has led Snap’s business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa for nearly four years, will take over as chief commercial officer. He will steer the company’s advertising sales and go-to-market operations globally.Mohan said his family had remained in Singapore while his role required him to travel frequently between New York, Los Angeles and Singapore, besides making occasional stops in London, Dubai and Bengaluru.“I’m coming home, and I am looking forward to spending more time with the boys than with the Singapore Airlines crew on trans-Pacific flights,” he said in a LinkedIn post announcing his departure.Mohan joined Snap in January 2023 as president of its Asia-Pacific business and was elevated as chief business officer in February 2025. During his tenure, he helped oversee a revamp of Snap’s advertising business as the company sought to draw more spending from brands and improve the performance of its advertising platform.“When I joined, we set out to rebuild Snap’s advertising business from the ground up,” Mohan said. This included redesigning the advertising platform around performance and making direct-response advertising a key engine of the business, he added.Mohan said he was leaving with confidence in Snap’s leadership and would continue to back the company as a fan and shareholder. He did not disclose his next professional move, joking that he may write a book, make a movie or explore artificial intelligence.Before joining Snap, Mohan was vice-president and managing director of Meta’s India business for nearly four years.
