(NEXSTAR) — Regardless of whether you have a three-day weekend ahead of you or not, there is one task you can skip on Monday: checking your mailbox.

In case you haven’t looked at a calendar recently, Monday is Columbus Day. It’s not only a day when you may not have to work, but one of several holidays observed by federal offices and banks.

Among those observing the holiday will be the U.S. Postal Service, leaving you without any new political fliers or bills in your mailbox on Monday.

Other delivery services, like FedEx , UPS , and Amazon , will be available.

Banks, meanwhile, will also likely be closed for the day. Local services, like libraries, may also take the day off. It’s best to confirm hours and availability online or by calling ahead.

President Trump brought Columbus Day “back from the ashes” last spring, accusing Democrats of doing “everything possible to destroy Christopher Columbus” and “his reputation.”

In 2021, President Biden became the first president to declare the second Monday of October as Indigenous Peoples Day .

An increasing number of Americans have, in recent years, opted to observe Indigenous Peoples Day instead of Columbus Day, pointing to the violence explorer Christopher Columbus inflicted on Native communities, The Hill previously reported .

Columbus Day will happen a day earlier next year, landing on Oct. 11. The next federal holiday this year, meanwhile, is Veterans Day on Nov. 11.
