Micron is about to do something that would surprise most 'Magnificent 7' investors
Micron is indeed on a roll.
It's the year of Micron ( MU ) in tech — not Nvidia ( NVDA ).
Off-the-charts demand for its memory chips during the AI boom has totally recast the company's financial results. That is nicely captured in the chart below from X user Trade Whisperer .
Micron is about to out-earn every single "Magnificent Seven" name in the current quarter in operating income. Those seven names include: Apple ( AAPL ), Alphabet ( GOOGL , GOOG ), Microsoft ( MSFT ), Amazon ( AMZN ), Meta ( META ), Tesla ( TSLA ), and Nvidia ( NVDA ).
Making this even more interesting is that Micron has the smallest market cap among these six tech beasts, at roughly $1.1 trillion.
Micron has had a week and a year to remember.
The company easily beat sales and profit forecasts for the quarter on Wednesday on voracious demand from the AI boom . Guidance was also strong, except for margin comments on the earnings call.
Consider this: Micron added about $43 billion in sales in the most recent quarter compared to the year-ago quarter. That's massive. Operating margins exploded in all business segments.
