Artificial intelligence is moving beyond chatbots and content generation, with autonomous systems increasingly capable of reasoning, planning and executing tasks. KL Deemed to be University and KLH Hyderabad are bringing this next phase of AI into higher education through a new partnership with HCL Group AI Labs*, with its Agentic AI Campus initiative taking shape across its academic ecosystem, including its Vaddeswaram and Hyderabad campuses. The initiative, also unveiled at KLH Hyderabad, will integrate AI and agentic technologies into academic programmes, laboratories, projects and day-to-day learning, with AI-focused degrees also planned. The partnership is built around a broader shift in how students engage with technology. Rather than limiting AI to a standalone subject, the university plans to embed it across disciplines and enable students to progress from using AI tools to designing and deploying intelligent systems.Students will be introduced to machine learning, generative AI, large language models and agentic architectures, alongside practical capabilities such as prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, multimodal applications, intelligent chatbots, AI copilots, enterprise assistants, intelligent search and decision-support systems. The curriculum will also connect these emerging capabilities with core software skills, including programming, full-stack development, cloud computing, databases, DevOps and application deployment. This combination is intended to help students understand not only how AI systems work, but also how to build, integrate and operate them in real-world environments.“AI is transforming how industries operate, innovate and create value, and universities must embed it across the learning ecosystem rather than treat it as a single subject,” said Koneru Satyanarayana, Chancellor, KL Deemed to be University. “Working with HCL AI Labs, we want students across disciplines to move from using AI tools to designing,” he adds.According to Srinath, Dean – Student Skilling and Progression, the programme will use project-based learning to translate classroom concepts into working applications. Students will tackle use cases spanning healthcare, education, agriculture, manufacturing, finance, retail, cybersecurity, smart cities, human resources and enterprise automation.Industry-led problem statements, hackathons and product competitions will add practical exposure, with promising ideas encouraged towards startups and market-ready solutions. The programme will cover the complete development journey, from identifying a problem and preparing data to building, testing, deploying and refining an AI solution. The university expects this approach to prepare graduates for emerging roles such as AI engineers, agentic AI developers, generative AI engineers, machine learning engineers and AI product engineers.Note (*): The claim has been verified against the MoU provided by the KONERU LAKSHMAIAH EDUCATION FOUNDATION.Disclaimer - The above content is non-editorial, and TIL hereby disclaims any and all warranties, expressed or implied, relating to it, and does not guarantee, vouch for or necessarily endorse any of the content. You use AI every day.
