After Defection , the next mission in our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare walkthrough is Counter Attack, another long and explosive chapter nearing the game's end. You once again take control of Park as allied forces try to take back enemy-occupied territory.

It’s lovely that the enemy is nice enough to keep Ghost’s mask on even when they’re tied up. Anyway, after the cutscene, you find yourself in a Normandy-like situation as the counter attack to retake Hajin City is underway. Using the other trucks as cover, move up only when Jae instructs unless you want to meet an early grave. Keep going until West pops smoke, allowing you and Jae to meet Dunn in a foxhole.

A friendly corporal bites the dust, so pick up his scope to call in air support

Equip the scope using D-pad Up , and aim for the locations enemies are pinning you down from. There are three buildings to target; one in the middle, one on the left, and finally the highrise to the right. Next, call in a strike on the BMP directly in front of you, as well as on a squad to its right.

Capture the Enemy Hardpoint With Your Squad

Move up after the line is cleared, using your own armored tank as cover and taking out infantry on foot. Head into the restaurant once friendlies enter, and go with Jae to go room to room to flush out any remaining enemies. This area has armored enemies, so make sure your clips are full before engaging.

Meet back up with Dunn and head up the stairs, taking out a couple enemies. Open the door at the top of the stairs, then head left into the apartment. Unfortunately, a family of civilians has fallen victim to the northern invaders. You can hear gunfire in the next apartment, so reach the wall in the bedroom to plant a breach charge by holding square. Blast through the wall and take out the enemies in front and on either side of you.

Exit the apartment and head up the stairs with Jae and Dunn, where you’ll find another door where you can hear enemy fire. Open the door for Jae and take out the two baddies on the rooftop.

Head outside and turn right, then jump down onto the scaffolding and descend back to the street level.

Continue following Jae as you meet up with a handful of other squads continuing the invasion. Follow behind one of the friendly armored trucks to interact with backpacks containing spare ammo and armor plates. Continue forward until heavy enemy artillery from the hotel starts raining down, where Jae directs the squad to take a left turn.

Keep following the squad into an open-air construction site. Enemy fire starts pelting the group, so pull out the scope to mark their locations for friendly artillery to wipe them out.

Destroy the MG Nests Defending the Construction Site

Request artillery on the machine gun nests in the half-built buildings directly ahead, being careful not to get shot. One nest is on the right and another on the left.

With the machine gun nests out of the way, clear out the remaining stragglers to secure the area. Use the armored trucks as cover, or climb them for a better view of enemies above you. On the left rear of the armored truck is FiNN LMG, so swap your pistol out for that to help support your assault. There are dozens of enemies remaining on both the bottom and top floors of the smaller construction area in the middle, so focus your fire on when their heads pop up or toss a grenade to proceed.

Follow Pvt. Morgan to breach the door to the apartment building, then climb the stairs with Jae. Head right, where a few SMG-equipped enemies meet you. Take them out, then help Jae lift some debris to clear the path forward

Crawl up the debris with Jae to find the hotel in plain view.

Call For Support on the Enemy Anti-Tank Unit

Using the scope, call for a friendly artillery strike on the enemy unit on a high floor in the hotel.

Wait for West to blast them, then support the rest of your allies as enemy infantry and a tank arrive, taking them out with the cars as cover. Continue forward slowly, using the friendly armored as cover once again. Make sure to stock up on ammo and armor plates if you need. After fighting down the street, you’ll meet up with a couple other friendly armored vehicles, but our goal is the hotel to your right.

Wait for the truck to drive through the wall, then assault your enemy with the rest of your squad. Secure the area by taking out all the enemies in the lobby. There are a few different guys to kill on either side of you, as well as above the lobby and on the stairs.

Head up the lobby stairs once it’s safe, and find the rest of the boys at the elevator. Dunn suggests the squad takes the elevator up to save time, much to the rest of everyone else’s dismay.

Locate the North Korean Forward Operating Site

Exit the elevator and head right with the team to a set of double doors that leads outside. Open the door and take out the enemies manning the position. Ascend the ruins of the hotel and meetup with the poor bastards who took the stairs, and clear out an apartment until you start to hear nearby gunfire.

Head back out the way you came and head left to other apartment, where Dunn and some of your other allies are pinned down. Join them, then take out the enemies hiding behind the flipped over table, and one hiding on the left in the living room. Careful when you cross into the next room, as there’s another enemy in the bedroom left of the living room that you can’t quite see from the entrance. Kill that one, then head to other bedroom to take out the enemy in the bathroom.

Go back out into the hallway with your squad to reach the conference room door. Join Jae at the door, and interact ( Square ) with him to start the breach. In classic Call of Duty fashion, breaching the door triggers a slow motion section that allows you to take out enemies without harming any of their civilian hostages.

Make your way back into the hallway and follow Dunn up the stairs. Pang warns you to stay quiet, and when you open the door to the outside comms relay, the enemies are none the wiser.

There’s a comms officer at the desk, so slowly sneak over and melee kill him. Or just go in guns blazing and take everyone else out, it doesn’t make a difference. There are a few guys to the right of where the comms officer was, as well as above you on the left.

After confirming to West that the comms relay is secured, he requests we provide overwatch support on allies below.

Head to the edge of the building and grab the KG-7 Vulcan sniper rifle, then pull out the scope again to get a good view of the street.

Eliminate Enemy Forces Defending the Parking Structure

Look to your right to see enemies spilling out on the roof of a parking structure above where friendlies are making their way down the street. Mark their location with the scope for artillery to take them out.

As enemies swarm from all over, focus your attention to the building on the left, where RPGs are poised to take out the allied convoy.

Once they’re out, three tanks arrive. Use the missile launchers next to you to blow them to smithereens. You’ll have to wait a bit for the launcher to get reloaded, so use that time to pick off any enemies with your sniper rifle.

With the way forward clear, friendly armor ma

kes their way up the street to take City Hall. A sniper starts raining down fire on the squad from the building on your left, so take him out ASAP. On the building to the right of where the sniper was is a mortar team just begging to get snipe, so kindly oblige them. Another tank spawns, so use the launcher one final time to save the day.
