Crimson Desert has changed significantly since launch, with developer Pearl Abyss even going so far as to enhance the main story and make big changes to progression. Even if you finished the game during the launch window, there's still so much more to see in Pywel. This page details all the major changes Crimson Desert has received since the 1.0 release in March.

Arguably the biggest change the game has seen since launch, Crimson Desert's main story has been improved with several new cutscenes, character interactions, and narration to give greater context to Kliff's journey.

The changes are noticeable from the very beginning, with the head-scratching nature of the Abyss getting much more exposition in the opening hours and Kliff's band of Greymanes receiving more development. Quests flow much more naturally, bosses get proper backstories and introductions, and Kliff has much more personality than he did in the original version of the game.

The new version of Crimson Desert's story is still the same at its core, but the new stuff really makes the band of Greymanes feel much more like a family than random mercenaries. This will continue even further with the Charting the Unknown DLC, which will make the Greymane camp even livelier with visits from friends.

Progression in Crimson Desert was a huge headache at launch because Abyss Artifacts weren't shared between characters. Leveling up Kliff inadvertently made Damiane and Oongka much weaker since they didn't get a fair share of skill points. Since the story forces you to play as Damiane and Oongka for key boss fights, many players ended up resetting their skill trees more than once.

Now, each character gets an equal opportunity to level up with the introduction of Abyss Links. When one character spends an Abyss Artifact to acquire a skill, the remaining two characters receive an Abyss Link as compensation. Abyss Links are essentially duplicate skill points, ensuring that the trio can level up simultaneously.

Taming pets and hunting down rare mounts was one of the best parts of Crimson Desert at launch, and Pearl Abyss has only fleshed out this system further with each major update.

In addition to vanilla pets like dogs and cats, you can now tame more exotic creatures like foxes, raccoons, armadillos, and even a platypus. You can also tame birds now with a special item called the Sotdae of Bond , so you can collect pretty much every animal you see across Pywel.

Mounts have also been expanded greatly since Crimson Desert's launch. You can now tame unique mounts like bears, wolves, and tigers as of patch 1.06 , and you can even tame dangerous mounts like raptors or wyverns with the right items.

Pywel could get a little quiet after finishing Crimson Desert's main story, but Pearl Abyss has added multiple combat challenges for Greymanes in search of a fight. Every boss from the main story can now be rematched at any time, and you can scale them up to match your current power level for a challenge.

In addition, strongholds throughout the world will now be re-blockaded by bandits and enemies over time. Safe areas won't stay safe forever, but you can send Greymanes to liberate the areas or move in and clear them out yourself. You can tweak the speed and severity of re-blockades (or disable them entirely) in the settings menu.

Player housing has been in Crimson Desert since launch, but it's been greatly expanded across a few big updates. Dozens of new furniture items have been added to the game, and you can now decorate the exterior of your home as well.

Your home can also be used to store important items and crafting materials to keep your inventory free of clutter. There are wardrobes for dedicated armor storage, and you can place cooking ingredients and crafting materials in storage chests so they can be accessed while you're crafting anywhere in Pywel. The Charting the Unknown DLC expands housing even further with custom house construction and conquerable castles.

Crimson Desert has also received countless quality of life changes since launch, such as:

Oongka and Damiane can wear more armor sets

Banks have more expensive investment options

Cross save is available between PC and console

Missing boss armor sets are now obtianable

Oongka and Damiane have new traversal abilities

You can hide certain armor pieces and headgear

This surely isn't the end for Crimson Desert either, and more updates will likely come following the release of the Charting the Unknown DLC .
