LEGO PlayStation Images Leak, Revealing Some Incredible PS1 Easter Eggs

The long-rumored LEGO PlayStation set has been glimpsed in leaked photos, and it's an impressive recreation of Sony's retro console with a several brilliant Easter eggs.

Earlier this year, product listing leaks pointed to a LEGO PlayStation console coming this October. And now, with a month to go, the first photos of the set have hit the internet.

Reliable LEGO source Brick Tap has revealed images of the set's box, as reportedly found in a LEGO store. It's still unclear when LEGO will make the set official, though perhaps we'll hear more tomorrow, during Sony's next State of Play broadcast . That's due to stream online at 9am Eastern, on September 3.

The set itself will reportedly contain 1,911 pieces and come with a pricetag of $160. There will also reportedly be an Astrobot gift with purchase, available while stocks last.

While there's no images yet of the Astrobot add-on, the main set's box shows the LEGO console and controller. Printed brick elements perfectly recreate the DualShock's iconic Square, Triangle, Circle and Cross buttons, and the pad can also plug into the console's front.

The console itself includes the PS1's flip-up disc tray, while its sides pull away to reveal miniature scenes from Ape Escape and Gran Turismo. It's a very cool touch, and one that's reminiscent of the Easter eggs found in LEGO's Nintendo range, such as the diorama's hidden in its 1-UP Block set.

It likely won't be long until Sony and LEGO make the set official, and it joins a growing range of retro console builds — such as the Nintendo Entertainment System below. Last month, LEGO also revealed a refreshed range of Super Mario sets, now scaled to feature the first Nintendo minifigures .
