British singer Cliff Richard is enjoying an unlikely resurgence at the age of 86 after one of his old songs featured in the GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix , but it seems the whole Rockstar Games phenomenon has passed him by.
"Devil Woman" is a 1976 single from his album I'm Nearly Famous, and it previously got a bump in popularity after featuring on 2017 movie I, Tonya. But nothing compares GTA 6 , a game widely expected to be the biggest entertainment launch in history.
Since the Extended Look, Devil Woman has seen a 325% increase in daily streams. The singer himself doesn’t really understand what’s happening here.
In an interview with The Times , Richard admitted he didn't know what Grand Theft Auto was, despite Rockstar paying out to feature it on the extensive GTA 6 soundtrack.
“I was told this happened!” he said. “My nephew, who has two boys, said they came screaming to him, ‘Dad, it’s Uncle Cliff!’ They didn’t realise I could sing like that. The show is a game show, isn’t it, really? One of the biggest on TV?”
He got the word “game” right, so let’s give him that. The man is 86, after all. Even if he doesn’t fully understand the extent of what’s going on, however, he’s happy that his music is still relevant in the big 2026.
“People will no longer just say, ‘Oh, Cliff Richard is from the past,’” he said. “Because I am, but that past is what makes everything what it is today.”
Rockstar recently revealed some of the musical tracks you’ll hear while cruising around Vice City, in its GTA 6 radio stations and song list . As well as the oldies, there will be tracks from contemporary music legends such as Yung Lean and Travis Scott.
GTA 6 is scheduled for launch on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles.
