With Price and Ghost separated after Escape , our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 campaign walkthrough changes perspective back to the marines in Hajin City as they counter the counter invasion.
The mission begins in the middle of the action as you rejoin Park, Jae, and Dunn. Cross the train tracks with your squad avoiding enemy fire and make your way up the snowy hill.
Keep climbing the hill, being careful not to pop your head up too far, and jump into the trench and make your way left towards the objective.
Follow Jae deeper into the trenches until an ally tragically gets taken out by an LMG nest - head to the left to kill them. This is a fairly linear path, so continue to go through the trenches, taking out enemies as needed - just be careful not to climb out, or you’ll get shot down immediately .
You’ll eventually get ambushed by an enemy and their bayonet, so mash Square to hold him off until he eats a bullet. Fight off a few more enemies and clear out the bunkers until it’s time to cross over.
If you’re after the Trench Boom achievement/ trophy, it’s pretty easy to get - just swap to your shotgun as soon as the mission starts and use that to kill enemies until you complete it.
Run like hell through No Man’s Land, sliding into the trench on the other side. There are a few enemies in here and on the right, so make sure you’re prepared to take them out when you arrive.
You’re pinned down by machine gun fire, so carefully aim at the shooter’s head or toss a semtex to take it out, then head that direction to take out three more enemies - one on your right and two on the left. There are two enemies on the rooftop top behind the trenches, so be sure to take them out before continuing.
The entrance to the building is overrun with enemies, so make sure you’re armored up before engaging - a well-placed semtex would do nicely here. Enter the building, killing the armored enemy on the right.
Interact with the console to learn that the cooling mechanism is unstable, then continue through the building.
Exit the power substation to meet West - you’re on your way to the power plant now. Park takes the wheel of an armored truck for this next section.
Roll out with the convoy until you reach a group of enemies. Take them out using your armored vehicle’s weapons, and keep following the road.
On your right is a stopped train with dozens of enemies raining down fire. Launch a couple of well-aimed missiles into them, and be careful of the tank that appears as you move forward - destroy that with a missile as well.
Cross the tracks, making sure to kill the soldiers on the tower to your right. An enemy tank is on your right, so take that down as well. Keep going down towards the reactor, shooting or running over any infantry in your way.
Your armored truck is quickly taken out of commission, so the squad is forced to continue on foot. Keep heading towards the power plant, where a massive enemy defense is waiting - as well as a BMP. Fight your way through the individual enemies, making sure you’re prioritizing cover and armor - this is a tough fight.
Grab a couple of thermite grenades from the cache to the right of where you entered, and throw two or three of them at the BMP to remove it from the equation.
Regroup at Entrance to the Reactor Building
Meet your squad at the entrance, where Shaw informs you that your new objective is to manually shut down the reactor with the help of an engineer.
Follow your squad into the reactor and take out the enemies at the pretty blue pool (do NOT jump in) . Head up the stairs to the control room and breach the door to check for survivors with the squad.
The engineer tells you to find the button labeled “SCRAM”. Check the keyboards and consoles until you do; it’ll be the left side console with the dead soldier covering it. Unfortunately, the button doesn’t work.
Exit out the door with your squad, being careful not to shoot the innocent scientists who are running away. Keep following Jae and Dunn downstairs and into the waist-deep water.
Follow the Yellow Pipe to the Emergency Valve and Open It
The yellow pipe is hard to miss; it’s a rather large one to your right. Dive into the water to see where it goes. Quickly follow the pipe underwater, minding your breath meter. You’ll be able to come up for air shortly.
Dive back down after taking a breath, and continue to follow the pipe and swim under the grey pipes to find the valve. Interact with it and mash Square to turn it all the way, cooling the core.
Swim back the way you came to reunite with the squad, and don’t be alarmed if your breath runs out - this is scripted.
Once you’re back on your feet, get on the other side of the cart from Jae and interact with it to move it out of the way.
Climb onto it and use the pipes to make your way up. Keep following Jae’s movement and jumps until you’re prompted to boost him up a ledge. Follow Jae up the pipes until you need to boost him again, then run like hell to the helicopter to complete the mission.
