Why Joe Davis is still sidelined for Dodgers-Braves NLDS series and who is replacing him
Braves fans will recognize the voice taking over for Davis in Wednesday's Game 4 booth.
For the second consecutive game of Dodgers vs. Braves, Fox will have a different play-by-play voice in the booth.
In Tuesday's Game 3 of the NLDS, it was Kenny Albert filling in alongside John Smoltz as L.A . took a 2-1 lead in the series.
Now, for Wednesday's Game 4, Braves fans will likely recognize another new voice in the booth filling in alongside Smoltz.
Here's why Fox's lead baseball announcer, Joe Davis, remains out for Game 4 of the Dodgers vs. Braves series.
Why Joe Davis remains sidelined for Dodgers-Braves NLDS Game 4
The Athletic's Andrew Marchand reported Tuesday that Davis is considered "day-to-day" with a sickness that caused him to lose his voice. At the time, he was set to miss Game 3 of the NLDS in the booth, with Albert taking his place.
Now, that illness is keeping Davis from calling Game 4 as well. Sports media reporter Richard Deitsch reported on Wednesday afternoon that Davis is "still under the weather," and in his place for Wednesday evening's game on play-by-play will be Brandon Gaudin.
Gaudin, like Davis is to the Dodgers, calls the Braves full-time in the regular season, but will now be on a national broadcast with Atlanta playing. Also known for his voice on the "Madden NFL" series since 2017, Gaudin has been the lead voice of the Braves since 2023.
It remains to be seen when Davis will be able to return to the booth alongside Smoltz, but with Fox carrying coverage of the NLCS soon, he will be assigned to that series if his health permits.
