Matthias Jaissle has urged his Newcastle players to take greater responsibility for their decision-making on the pitch, insisting they cannot be coached through every moment of a game.

The Newcastle United head coach made clear on Monday following his side's loss to Everton that his players had not enacted the game plan properly .

And speaking ahead of his side's game against, Fulham, Jaissle said: "We already adjusted here and there our framework, our principles, always according to the opposition. We can support the players with that.

"In the end they are on the pitch, it's not a PlayStation game."

The German admitted that the choices made by his players recently have not been good enough, but admits that when confidence is not there, it becomes more difficult.

He emphasised that this has been spoken about within his squad, saying that they have been "encouraged" by he and his coaching staff to make better decisions.

"It's on us to build that [confidence] again", Jaissle said.

The Magpies travel to London on Saturday to face a Fulham side who are slowly beginning to improve after a poor start.
