Microsoft launches its new AI model for making decisions quickly.

Apparently, after large language models and agents, we’re now in the age of “decision models,” as Microsoft has announced Microsoft-Decision-1 just days after OpenAI highlighted its new Decisions API. The point of these models is to choose something quickly and efficiently, like figuring out which AI model to use or what is in an image being analyzed by AI, and Microsoft claims its new tech beat out the others in tests to determine their speed and accuracy. Google is reportedly working on an upgraded TV Streamer.

The new, narrower model has microphones on the actual device, presence sensing, a faster processor, additional storage, and an updated remote with two more shortcut buttons, 9to5Google reports. It’s unclear when the new model might launch. The original TV Streamer launched in September 2024, and we gave it a 9 on our review scale. However, it recently got a $50 price hike, taking its price up to $149. Apple may have filed to trademark the word “HomeView.”

MacRumors reports: > Apple potentially used a shell company named Home Services LLC to secretly file for a “HomeView” trademark in the U.S. and various other countries last year, around the same time that another shell company named Home Operations Suite LLC that also might be linked to Apple filed for a “homeOS” trademark. Perhaps the phrase is for something that will be announced at the October 13th “Welcome home” event? At least we don’t have to wait too long to find out.
