Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy reviewed by Travis Northup on PlayStation 5, also available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is a prequel spinoff that takes a lot of interesting chances with the series, following a new protagonist, refocusing its encounters around melee combat, and even introducing a whole new way to haunt your dreams. Some of these experiments pay off, like the new foe you eventually find yourself against and the overarching story about the ancient civilization you’ll explore the ruins of, but many more of them fall flat. That includes a significantly less compelling journey for its main character, battles that get repetitive way too fast, and light-manipulation puzzles that provide a dim flicker of amusement more often than a roaring flame.
