Greene: $6.20 gas ‘is Trump’s fault’

Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) blamed President Trump for rising gas prices amid the Iran war , calling high fuel costs “ridiculous.”

In a video she posted Tuesday to Instagram, Greene stood outside a California gas station and referenced the posted prices: $6.19 per gallon for regular gas, $6.47 for plus gas, $6.75 for supreme gas and $8.49 for diesel.

Noting the average per-gallon diesel cost in her home state was well above $6, the former congresswoman said fuel prices were “way too high.”

Greene remarked, “I don’t care if it’s Georgia or California. … This is ridiculous.”

Fuel costs have risen amid the Iran conflict, which is approaching the seven-month mark without any sign of an end to hostilities.

Throughout the conflict, the Islamic Republic has restricted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, while the U.S. military’s efforts to escort ships through the waterway have not brought traffic back to pre-war levels.

“Everything you buy — your food, your supplies, all of your goods — gets delivered by diesel,” Greene said in her video.

“The war in Iran has got to stop,” she added. “This is Trump’s fault.”

The former Georgia lawmaker resigned from Congress earlier this year amid a feud with the president, who pulled his support of Greene last November.

Greene hads criticized Trump’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files and his lack of focus, in her view, on lowering costs. She has also blasted the Israeli military’s actions in Gaza, calling it a “genocide.”

The Hill has reached out to the White House for comment on Greene blaming Trump for high fuel costs.

The national average per-gallon price of regular gas is roughly $4.44 as of Thursday, according to AAA . That marks an increase of roughly 17 cents from a week ago and a 40-cent rise from a month ago.

Two days before the U.S. and Israel launched the conflict, AAA reported regular gas cost an average of $2.98 per gallon.

If the war continues, it threatens to further increase inflation . The conflict could result in inflation being 0.5 percentage points higher in the first quarter of 2027 than what the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) previously projected, the CBO reported Tuesday .
