Man who jumped off Airbnb was deep in debt, had a divorce

Noida: A premature son’s treatment costing over Rs 30 lakh, mounting debts and a divorce that required him to pay his former wife Rs 15 lakh are among the circumstances police are examining after software engineer Sambhav Jain (28) jumped to his death from the 41st-floor balcony of an Airbnb in Supernova on Saturday.Jain, who worked for a private company in Gurgaon and lived in IMT Manesar, got married in 2024. His son was born prematurely and spent a month in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Police said Jain borrowed money from friends and family to meet the treatment expenses. His marriage ended in separation a few months after the child’s birth. According to Sector 126 SHO Sumnesh Kumar, a court ordered Jain to pay his wife Rs 15 lakh in two instalments. He had paid Rs 7-8 lakh and was due to pay the remaining amount the following month.Police are also examining WhatsApp conversations between Jain and his father over money. “His father insisted he return home, but he refused. He said he would repay all the debts first,” Kumar said.Jain had left home about three days earlier, stayed at hotels in different places and checked into the Airbnb alone around 3pm on Friday. He ordered food that evening. On Saturday morning, a team of AC mechanics working in a nearby flat spotted him hanging from the balcony railing. The workers tried to persuade him to step back. Jain allegedly told them he was “depressed” before jumping off.Police recovered two videos. One of them was recorded by a resident on the 17th floor of another tower showing Jain falling, and another filmed by a technician capturing the team’s attempts to communicate with him.Police have inspected the scene, collected evidence and are examining CCTV footage from the building and surrounding areas. The family has not filed a complaint, Kumar said. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Noida | Silver Rate in Noida | Bank Holidays in Noida | Public Holidays in Noida | Noida AQI | Weather in Noida | Petrol Price in Noida | Diesel Price in Noida | CNG Price in Noida | LPG Price in NoidaStay updated with the latest Noida news.
