Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy will give remarks Monday as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rolls out a new artificial intelligence tool aimed at helping air traffic controllers manage congestion and reduce flight delays.

The Strategic Management of Airspace, Routes, and Trajectories (SMART) program will use AI to analyze air travel, airport capacity and weather. The rollout will begin at Reagan Washington National, Dulles International and Baltimore-Washington International airports, according to the Transportation Department.

Duffy earlier this year brushed off concerns that AI would replace the controllers. Risks of the rapidly evolving technology have captured headlines in recent weeks.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. EDT.
