SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is 'one of one': Will the market give Anthropic's Dario Amodei the same leeway?

Elon Musk's companies get the benefit of the doubt. That may not be the case for Dario Amodei's Anthropic.

· 280 words

In the battle of big-name tech founders, SpaceX ( SPCX ) and Tesla ( TSLA ) CEO Elon Musk is in a class of his own.

Anthropic ( ANTH.PVT ) CEO Dario Amodei is a visionary too, pros say, but he's not on Musk's level.

That distinction could be important to watch as Anthropic incurs big losses as a public company with new shareholders to please. Does the market give Amodei a pass, as it has historically with Musk-led Tesla and SpaceX? Or does it punish Anthropic and Amodei for not delivering on the company's ambitious growth objectives?

"Elon is a one of one. I think Dario has built an amazing business. There's no question about that. But you know Elon's a rock star in comparison as far as his persona goes. And so he gets a lot of leeway because of that," Manhattan Venture Partners co-founder Jared Carmel said on Sozzi Unleashed .

Manhattan Venture Partners is an investor in both SpaceX and Anthropic.

The market is about to put Amodei and his team to the test.

Anthropic is reportedly preparing to publicly file its S-1 prospectus soon, possibly by the end of today.

Leaked details from its draft filing reveal sizzling sales growth, with Anthropic's first-half 2026 revenue surging to $16.3 billion compared to $1.1 billion a year ago.

However, the filing also discloses an $80.7 billion first-half net loss.

Investment bankers are reportedly aiming for an astronomical listing valuation at close to $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion.

Anthropic could debut on public markets before the end of November.
