Apple’s foldable ‘iPhone Duo’ will reportedly start at $2,000

With only a few hours left until the first iPhone launch event since John Ternus took over as the CEO of Apple, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman says the name of the company’s long-rumored folding phone is the iPhone Duo. The midnight report suggests it will have a price starting at $2,000 for a model with 256GB of storage, or around $3,000 for up to 2TB. Shipping is said to start as soon as October in two colors: white and dark blue. So far, the rumored foldable has been mostly referred to as the iPhone Ultra, while the Duo name would raise a title that Google used for one of its many ill-fated attempts at messaging and chat, and that Microsoft already applied to its own foldable devices, with the Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2. Meanwhile, its starting price could make it more expensive than the cheapest versions of Google’s Pixel 11 Pro Fold and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 which start at $1,899, but lower than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra’s $2,099.99 price. As the rumors have said, it’s expected to be able to run side-by-side iPhone apps, handle iPad-like multitasking, and support using the Apple Pencil as a stylus.
