OpenAI, Anthropic, SpaceXAI Hit by Service Outages for AI Models

(Bloomberg) -- OpenAI, Anthropic PBC and SpaceXAI were hit by outages on Thursday, according to user reports and company status pages, disrupting customers of three of the leading US AI model makers.

Tens of thousands of users reported OpenAI service issues on Downdetector, an outage-tracking service. OpenAI said it was investigating elevated error rates across its ChatGPT chatbot and Codex AI coding tool.

Anthropic said several of its models had recovered after experiencing errors but the company continues to work to address disruptions with its Opus 4.8 and Opus 5 offerings.

Grok, the chatbot from Elon Musk's SpaceXAI, is also confronting outages, according to the company's status page.
