Kochi: Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) organised a series of workshops on Thursday to develop Keralam’s first industry-flexible curriculum, aimed at aligning academic programmes with evolving industry requirements and emerging technologies. The workshops were organised by the school of engineering, Prof NR Madhava Menon Interdisciplinary Centre for Research Ethics and Protocols and the school of legal studies, following the directives of vice-chancellor M Junaid Bushiri. The discussions focused on incorporating the National Education Policy provisions, strengthening industry-academia collaboration and promoting holistic student development. Experts from industry, academia, legal practice and technology participated in the sessions. The workshops explored the inclusion of areas such as artificial intelligence, legal technology, financial technology, cyber law, corporate governance, environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices, entrepreneurship, cybersecurity, talent management and technology-driven services. The discussions also focused on developing industry-ready skills and updating law programmes, including BBA LLB, BCom LLB and LLM.Cusat had in Sept decided to introduce the industry-flexible curriculum system to enable universities to respond more quickly to changes in industry, science and technology.Under the proposed model, 80% of the curriculum will comprise core subjects approved by the board of studies, while 20% will consist of components that can be revised periodically. This flexible portion is intended to accommodate emerging technologies, research findings, interdisciplinary learning, industry practices and contemporary developments without requiring a complete overhaul of the curriculum. You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Kochi | Silver Rate in Kochi | Bank Holidays in Kochi | Public Holidays in KochiStay updated with the latest Kochi news.
