Ben Shelton Starstruck By Jalen Brunson in Video After Knicks Star Attends US Open Win vs. Tiafoe

Ben Shelton was excited to see New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson in attendance as he picked up a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 win over Frances Tiafoe in their semifinal match at the US Open on Friday.

"It's not easy playing here at Arthur Ashe," Shelton said after his victory. "You're playing in front of all your favorite athletes and movie stars, so to be able to keep your head down and focus for over three hours is not an easy task. I keep on looking up at the screen like, 'Oh shoot, Jalen Brunson is here.'"

The reigning NBA Finals MVP was spotted at the match alongside actor and director Ben Stiller.

Brunson helped the Knicks end a 53-year championship drought during the 2025-26 season, taking down the San Antonio Spurs in five games to win the NBA Finals.

He averaged a league-leading 28.4 points per game in the playoffs to go along with 46.5/36.3/84.6 shooting splits across 19 postseason contests, which included a 45-point performance in Game 5 of the Finals to defeat the Spurs and capture the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

Shelton is attempting to make his own history at the US Open, as he'll now have an opportunity to become the first American man to win a Grand Slam title since Andy Roddick in 2003.

He wrapped up a strong performance against Tiafoe on Friday, recording 20 aces while winning five of 11 break points in a match that lasted three hours and 17 minutes.

Shelton has put together an impressive US Open run, as he previously defeated seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals.

He'll now face Alexander Zverev in the final on Sunday. Shelton is 0-5 in head-to-head clashes with Zverev, but enters the upcoming match with plenty of momentum.
