Frances Tiafoe has enjoyed the best season of his career to date.

The rejuvenated American star has performed at a high level throughout the year, as evidenced by his title-winning campaign in Halle and his impressive run to the US Open semi-finals.

Tiafoe defeated Valentin Vacherot, Daniil Medvedev and Alex Michelsen en route to the last four in New York, before losing to compatriot Ben Shelton in four sets.

Consequently, Tiafoe has now achieved a career-high ranking of world number eight.

The American has also given himself the opportunity to qualify for an iconic tournament for the first time in his career.

The American still trails Alexander Zverev, Jannik Sinner, Ben Shelton, Carlos Alcaraz and Flavio Cobolli.

Sinner won last year's ATP Finals, defeating Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

It was the Italian's second consecutive triumph at the event.
