Serena, Venus Williams Receive Wild Card Entry to 2026 US Open Women's Doubles Bracket

Serena and Venus Williams are reuniting once more to compete in the 2026 U.S. Open.

The Williams sisters have been granted wild card entry into the women's doubles tournament in Queens, the U.S. Open announced Wednesday.

The news comes after Serena and Carlos Alcaraz were eliminated from the mixed doubles quarterfinals of the U.S. Open.

She and Alcaraz began the tournament with a 5-3, 4-1 win over Erin Routliffe and Lloyd Glasspool before the duo was knocked out of the competition Tuesday following a 5-4 (4), 4-1 loss to Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli.

Venus previously received a separate wild card entry into the U.S. Open singles main draw, which is set to begin Aug. 30.

The sisters most recently competed together at the Cincinnati Open, where the duo suffered a first-round loss to Marta Kostyuk and Peyton Stearns in their first doubles competition since the 2022 U.S. Open.

After losing the first set 6-2 to Kostyuk and Stearns, the Williams sisters came back to win the second set 6-1 before losing a 10-8 tiebreak.

The duo had previously planned to reunite at Wimbledon, but withdrew from a scheduled June matchup with Solana Sierra and Camila Osorio while Serena dealt with a knee injury.

Serena, 44, and Venus, 46, have won three Olympic doubles medals as a duo while collecting 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, most recently emerging victorious in the 2016 Wimbledon doubles final.

The duo has made nine appearances in the U.S. Open, most recently competing in 2022. The sisters went 27-7 over that stretch while winning doubles titles in 1999 and 2009.
