Jessica Pegula 's four siblings — Michael, Laura, Kelly and Matthew —have rooted for her as she competes in the 2026 US Open .
"My siblings always love coming," she told Town & Country in August 2025 ahead of the US Open, which she said they frequented as kids. "They love being in the city and just being a part of it and it is always really fun ... there's just a lot more a personal attachment to it than maybe the other ones."
The tennis star's dad, billionaire Terry Pegula , welcomed Michael and Laura during a previous marriage before he wed her mom, Kim Pegula , in 1993. Jessica was born a year later, followed by Kelly and Matthew.
Terry built the family's fortune through natural gas and petroleum, later expanding into sports ownership with Kim. Together, they own the NFL's Buffalo Bills and the NHL's Buffalo Sabres. However, his second-eldest daughter has made a name for herself in tennis, emerging as one of the top American players in the sport by reaching the quarterfinals in all four Grand Slams. In 2024, she broke through to her first Grand Slam final at the US Open.
After her semifinal win, Jessica thanked her supporters, including her siblings, in an on-court interview for being by her side: "I have so much family here, and they have been watching a lot of my matches, so to still be here and have them still here supporting me is crazy. I am glad that they are able to share this moment with me."
Here's everything to know about Jessica Pegula's siblings: Michael, Laura, Kelly and Matthew.
Michael is nearly 20 years older than Jessica
Michael is the eldest of Terry's children from a previous marriage and has largely stayed out of the public eye. When Terry married Kim in 1993, Michael was 16, and his younger sister Laura was 11.
The couple settled in Orchard Park, N.Y., to stay close to the children, who lived nearby with their mother. Blending families during the teenage years wasn't without challenges, and Kim has been candid about the adjustment period.
"Obviously divorce on kids is always hard — especially when you're in those teen years, and you're going through a bunch of other things," she told Buffalo Magazine in May 2015. "But I knew what I was getting into. You just have to spend the time with them. Kids get older and start seeing things differently. And time heals everything."
Athletic talent runs in the Pegula family, and Laura carved out her own space on the court long before Jessica turned pro.
Laura graduated from North Allegheny High School in Pennsylvania in 2000, where she proved herself a standout player. She then played collegiate tennis at the University of Pittsburgh.
During her time with the Panthers, she became a valuable contributor and was named the team's Most Valuable Player one year.
Jessica has credited her sister with introducing her to the sport.
"My older sister, Laura, played Division I tennis, so I was always around it and followed in her footsteps," she told Elle in March 2025.
In June 2022, the Pegula family faced an emergency when Kim suffered a sudden cardiac arrest while sleeping. It was Kelly, Jessica's younger sister, who acted quickly in a moment that saved Kim's life.
Staying at her parents' home that night, Kelly performed CPR on her unresponsive mother until paramedics arrived.
Jessica later shared just how close the call was, praising her sister's actions in those critical minutes.
"Even though she doesn't like to take credit for this terrible situation, she absolutely saved her life," she wrote in an essay for The Players' Tribune in February 2023.
Kelly had completed her CPR certification only a few months earlier for a job requirement.
Matthew is the youngest of the Pegula kids. Though he's mostly remained private, he has stepped out to support Jessica at tennis tournaments, including at the Ecotrans Ladies Open Berlin in June 2024, and joined his mom during her first public appearance after her cardiac arrest.
Laura is part of the Buffalo Bills management team
Following Kim's 2022 cardiac arrest and ongoing recovery, the Pegula family quietly began making long-term plans for the future of their NFL franchise.
In 2023, Terry transferred a small percentage of the Buffalo Bills to his daughter Laura, who was long involved in the family petroleum business, signaling her growing role in the organization.
According to The Athletic , the move was made to comply with the NFL's succession planning policy, which requires each team to designate a successor in case the controlling owner dies or becomes incapacitated.
Terry, who became Kim's legal guardian after her health crisis, placed many of her assets in a trust, and soon after, formally named Laura as part of the ownership structure.
Laura has since taken on a more active role on the team and was part of the committee searching for the Bills' new head coach in January 2026, per Buffalo Rumblings .
Jessica and Kelly once owned a health food business
In 2016, Jessica and Kelly launched The Healthy Scratch, a quick-service restaurant in Buffalo, N.Y., offering smoothies, cold-pressed juices, salads, acai bowls and wraps.
After the original location opened, the brand quickly expanded, adding a food truck in 2017, followed by café locations inside medical buildings. They also opened a grab-and-go setup inside a local cycling studio.
The Healthy Scratch ran for six years before closing its final locations in May 2022, according to WGRZ .
