Serena Williams Reacts to US Open Return in Video After Mixed Doubles with Carlos Alcaraz

Serena Williams returned to Arthur Ashe Stadium for the first time since 2022 to compete alongside Carlos Alcaraz in mixed doubles at the U.S. Open.

She and Alcaraz started things off with a win over Erin Routliffe and Lloyd Glasspool, and the tennis legend was thrilled to be back on the court.

"I never expected to be back on this court, so it was just a really cool moment," Williams said. "I never thought this would happen."

Williams has been out of action for much of the last four years but got a bit of a warm-up this summer as she participated in various tournaments. Despite so much time off, she looked more than comfortable alongside Alcaraz.

Alcaraz has also been away for a significant amount of time, missing the last four months with a wrist injury. Playing alongside an all-time great was nerve-wracking, but ultimately helped him ease back into it.

"I was really nervous playing alongside Serena," Alcaraz said. "... She made it really easy for me just to try to enjoy it, go for it every time."

Following the win in the opening round, Williams and Alcaraz lost to Belinda Bencic and Flavio Cobolli in the quarterfinals.
