Carlos Alcaraz was surprised to find out who he would be playing in the quarterfinal of the US Open.

The star tennis player was shocked when told he'd be facing either Ben Shelton or Stefanos Tsitsipas during a live interview on ESPN, as he thought he was going up against Frances Tiafoe.

Tiafoe will instead go up against Alex Michelsen, while Alcaraz will have to wait until later on Sunday for his opponent to be decided.

No matter who he faces, Alcaraz will be the presumed favorite. The defending US Open champion has thrived in his return to tennis after several months off, losing just one set in his first four matches in New York.

He beat Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday to advance to the quarterfinal, and he'll look to carry his momentum into his next match, which will be on Tuesday.

Luckily for Alcaraz, he was informed of his potential opponent before Sunday's match between Shelton and Tsitsipas, so he'll have the chance to watch and prepare for his next match.
